Replacement Undersaddle Transducer??

kennyrox, Have you had a good tech look at it?  If it's truly a ground fault, then a good tech should be able to fix it with some soder?  I could be wrong on that, but just curious.  That's the first thing I'd have checked and done.

If you do have to replace the transducer, if it were me, I'd go with 1 of 2 options.

a) just save the extra 20 bucks or so and get the proper one from Godin.  It's not worth saving 20 bucks to get something that might sound like garbage in comparison.

b) If I was going to go with a different brand of transducer, I'd probably get one from B-Band.  They make a proprietary flexible one that sounds amazing and shouldn't be too expensive.

Either way, I think it would be worth it to be patient and not get something cheap cuz in the end, you may have to spend more money to fix that one, cuz....you know....you get what you pay for.

Thanks guys. I am an electronic tech, and an excellent solderer, and I'm in CA. I have removed and inspected every part of it. There are no broken wires, no loose connections, no cold solder joints, no broken or lifted traces. Every part of the preamp unit is working just fine, except the signal from the transducer. With Michel's guidance I checked everything I could check, and he is 100% certain it's the transducer itself. It's not that the price is unreasonable, I simply don't have $50. I'm selling most of my guitars just to pay rent. I checked out B-band, their pickups are not compatible with any other preamp.

FYI: the reason I asked is I've seen ads for VERY cheap transducers in the $5-10 range. I was hoping someone here might have used one with good results on a Seagull QII system. It was a longshot, but looks like no dice.

I guess I just won't be playing acoustic with the band for awhile. Not the end of the world.
