Hi Everyone
I have the Martin Dreadnought Junior, had it for a few months now.
Very impressed with the build quality and the tone/sound, it's only a 15/16 full size Dreadnought but it still has the Martin growl, and I find it a very comfortable couch guitar,
It's manufactured from all solid wood construction and has on board electronics, but never tried it plugged in.
It has a spacious 1 3/4 inch wide nut, and the guitar is a pleasure to play.
I heard the other day that Martin have just started selling the Dreadnought Junior all solid Mahogany construction, would like to hear comments from anyone who has played this guitar.

About 40 years ago, my youngest brother, David, and I chipped in to buy a 1972 D-18. He lived in Montreal and I lived in Baltimore, Ontario, so we played a Martin for 6 months and a Yamaha FG180 for 6 months.
38 years ago, I found a 1962 D-21 that I loved and I traded a bunch of stuff for it and sold my half of the D-18 to brother Dave. The D-21 is now my favourite possession.
35 years ago I met a woman, Maggie, with an early '70s D-18. She is a bit over 5 feet and found the guitar very unwieldy. Soon after we met she traded it for a pre-war OO-18, which she later sold and now has a 1921 O-18 which she loves. We have been married for 32 years.
Three years ago my brother Dave lost his battle with cancer and his son Steve inherited the D-18. About a year ago he went back-packing in Europe and Asia and asked me if I'd baby-sit the D-18. Being a good uncle, I said, "Sure." Steve has been home for six months, but has not come to claim the Martin. I played it at a gig last night.

Below are the '62 D-21, the '21 O-18 and the '72 D-18.

sounds great.. mellower than my NE,j but ust as comfortable to play..except for the narrow fingerboard space on outside of 1st and 6th string..
i find that I pull 6th off fretboard too often..

I am a big fan of the D18 having a 2012 model with the 1 3/4in nut width. It's my bluegrass guitar and it just keeps getting better.

I like the D-18 a lot. It is a great guitar, with a replaced pick guard and some serious finish crazing. There is a story about this crazing which I'll share sometime.
I don't like the D-18 as well as my D-21, which, as I said before, is my most valued possession. I find real difficulty describing the sound of a guitar with words.
Maggie's O-18 is a great little , well balanced guitar. I would use it more often except for the fact that it has bar frets and my fingertips get caught when I try to slide. Maggie doesn't slide often and the bar frets suit her fine.
My D-21 has quite a few battle scars even though I don't think of myself as a hard player. The O-18 has very few battle scars. Maggie is a finger picker and is not hard on her guitars.

I'm a newbie (both at guitar and this forum,) but I do have a Martin DRS1. It's solid sapele, and although it's not terribly loud, it sounds balanced to my newbie ears.I know some folks don't really consider the Road Series guitars to be real Martins, as they are assembled in their plant in Mexico, but it was about all my beginner guitar budget could stand. bigbearcarolina , ... do not listen to people saying that is not a "real Martin." That's as real as it gets. That guitar is beautiful. Almost bought that one myself. One of those, "Had to think about it, came back and it was gone" deals. Ended up buying a different Martin, but also made in Mexico. Their Mexican made guitars are every bit as good, and in some ways, better than their expensive American counterparts.

So, don't feel bad sir, you have an amazing guitar there.
I'm still thinking of grabbing one down the road ( pardon the pun! )

The Martin DRS1 I tried had one of the best "growls" I've ever heard, never mind whether it was a "Martin" growl or not. Very nice guitar. Very well built too. This is not good.

This is making me remember how nice that guitar is and I feel some GAS happening. Must find some Pepto or ....something.
