I contacted sweetwater early since they are 3 hours ahead of my time zone. Perhaps sometime before the 2 year warranty dissolves into dust i will hear back from them.
I doubt I will ever deal with them ever again. My so called sales engineer hasn't gotten in yet today , perhaps he is in their gym or coffee shop or one of the countless perks they offer employees. Since it's monday I'm told their tech dept who makes the final decision is busy.
I suspect if I spent $2000 then I would get better treatment.
I should have just dealt the Musicians Friend at least they respond.
I called today then decided to adjust the truss rod on my seagull grand. I turned it CC and it moved easy.It was just set with no tension because I could only turn in CC 1/8 turn before it stopped . I then adjusted it to remove the relief tuned it up and the strings pulled in relief . I slacked the string off again and adjusted it to have some back bow and tuned it up again and have just maybe .004" relief . I wanted it dead flat so I could add relief and didn't want to tighten the rod any more even though it was not difficult to turn the adjustment . It helped quite a bit , later I will see what it settles into and try to get no relief and go from there. From the full CC position I turned it about three 1/8th turns CW maybe a total of 1/2 turn I forget I just got it so the straight edge rocked a bit in the center hoping it had no relief . I prefer not tightening with string tension I have no issue backing it off to add relief at string tension. I tried for well over a month to get the top to come back yet it changed just a bit, I fear it's now just going to stay from years of string tension . I can't lower the action to what I'd like best I can do is lower it at most 1/64" . The truss rod is not for action yet removing some relief helped enough.
While I was doing this sweetwater called and their tech dept is going to look at the other one , send photo's and if it's better they will ship it out and then I can return this one. Maybe tomarrow I'll know.
