Recently, I have seen reference to 2 specific models of Godin products - the A&L and Seagull 12-string Concert Hall models, and the Godin and A&L Parlor models.

I have noticed a few things of late:

1. Godin now has its own line of high-end acoustic guitars

2. The websites for Norman and Simon & Patrick haven't been updated in quite awhile

3. It seems that Godin may be concentrating their efforts on Godin, Seagull, and Art & Lutherie - all of whom have updated websites, and Art & Lutherie has the most-recent Concert Hall body shape.

Anyway, other than finish, what are the differences between www.seagullguitars.com/en/products/182-s12-concert-hall-cw-spruce-sunburst-gt-q1t and www.artandlutherieguitars.com/legacy-cw-2?

And, what are the differences between godinguitars.com/product/rialto-jr-satina-gray-hg-q-discrete/ and www.artandlutherieguitars.com/roadhouse-qdiscrete?

The A&L Legacy is a heck of a lot cheaper: The A&L is selling at $549 on Amazon, while the Seagull S12 is $699 at Sweetwater. Also, the Seagull has the usual tapered headstock. Otherwise, the specs seem comparable.

Indeed! This is sort of my point. The Godin Rialto/A&L, I believe, even have the same electronics... 🤔

The Godin is $799 - the A&L, most likely cheaper as well...

I, personally, like the finish on the A&L 12 better than the Seagull 12, but that is certainly personal taste.

The finishes on the Godin and the A&L parlor seem identical...

The fretboard of the Godin is Pua Ferrero and the fretboard on the A&L is rosewood.

I think the main differences that up the price for the Godins is the Richlite fingerboard (their site) and apparently they use Ebony for the bridge (also their site) unless that's some sort of typo or something. If it's not, that's an interesting way to go.

Also, the high gloss finish on the Godin is the entire guitar, not just the top, so more expensive there as well.

Finally, the adjustment for the truss rod is on the headstock, so that makes the headstock itself more expensive to make.

I think those are the main diffs that are responsible for the price differences.

Hmm... Just musing here, but if it's more expensive to make a headstock with the truss rod adjustment there, why in the world would anyone want to do that? Personally, I want the truss rod adjustment in the soundhole, as otherwise to tweak the truss rod and the neck relief I have to find a screwdriver, take out two screws and put them somewhere where I won't lose them, and slide the cover off all before I can make any adjustment. If the adjustment in the soundhole, all I need is the truss rod tool. Much easier.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I was scratching my head when I saw that. EVERY other acoustic Godin makes in all the other lines has it in the sound hole and always have. Why they would switch to something that's more awkward or difficult.......on purpose.....now......is beyond me.

Taylor does this, but they've always done it, so it's just something they've never changed.
Martin does not do this, and I don't think they would ever think to change it to something more awkward.

Ya, it's quite a weird decision, but then again, that seems to be Godin's thing lately. LOL. (making weird decisions that is).
