Hi everyone, so my new Seagull Maritime SWS SG acoustic electric guitar after I received it on 12/23/2019 went from sounding good to starting to sound muddy. So today I changed the strings to D'Addario phosphor bronze EXP16 lights. While I was at it I also tightened up the tuners. So I stretched the strings by hand a tad and tuned up the guitar. This guitar really sounded a lot better than what it was. So tonight I had a Sunday evening jam with a lot of friends and family. The Guitar came to life when I started playing it. The Guitar had a great volume when played a little aggressively that could fill the large room letting others know my guitar was hear meaning bussiness. The Guitar was clear and crisp. The Guitar was played for four hours and the sound got better every hour.
So my friend Laura wanted to borrow my guitar while she played and sang a song. My guitar was crisp, clear and had a beautiful tone. Great sustain and was really warm and sweet when she played parts gently. When she needed volume, the guitar had no issue. The volume was loud but again clear and crisp. The Guitar has a nicmmme bass response but not the Martin growl. The mid tones and highs was really present and clean, crisp and clear. I feel the guitar had just enough bass to make me happy and smile.
When I played my guitar again it was just a pleasure to play and seemed very easy to play and never thought twice about it while singing. Some people change out bridge and nut and are happy and others also add bridge pins. In my case it was tighten tuners a bit and change out strings. So I sang a few Neil young songs that were received well and sounded great on this guitar. I played and sang wagon wheel and Hank Williams hey good lookineg and was able to get that country sound that really was effortless and sounded great. My favorite part is that we had a few Blue Grassers present and this guitar held it weight with no issues.Bass was enough to perform bass runs and could be heard next to the Martin's. The Guitar was a pleasure to flat pick breaks and notes were clean, crisp and clear. Volume was good to great. The Guitar did what it was told to do. Driving home tonight my wife told me she could hear my guitar and loved the sound. I told my wife that this guitar made me very happy to play tonight.
Lastly, I did mention Martin and just want to inform all that I think Martin Guitars are great, sound great and play well. You see, I have been a Martin owner and it was nice to see that other guitars can make great sound and volume and be complimented on like my guitar was tonight. The other guitar that sounded great tonight was my friends Larivee. I guess Canada does make some very good guitars that should be considered when looking to buy a new guitar.
