This is the one that will replace the 2016 Martin OM21 I never bonded with!! I had been considering the dread FG5, for a more "full" sound, but the smaller "folk" size FS5 is said to have more clarity, which is important for fingerpicking. The ultimate sign was one popped up on Shopgoodwill.com. shopgoodwill.com/item/170187679 It would have ended a couple of hours after I went to bed, so I threw what I considered a low bid at it. And I woke up the next morning to find I won!!! $500 off the normal retail price!! It is said to be in "like new" condition. It should find out this afternoon, it's at my local FEDEX facility and they have accepted the Hold At Location at the local FEDEX Office, instead of waiting and hoping the local driver actually stops to deliver it. Now it's out for delivery!! Now I have to wait at least 8 hours until I can pick it up!

The one thing I don't like is the pickguard. It looks like woodgrain, but it's actually embossed plastic. People have said it is rough and ends up causing scratching noises. This isn't my guitar, it's a pic I found. From the pic above, you can see someone already removed it!! I'm hoping they didn't scratch the top removing it. I'm wondering if it comes in the case so I can trace it to make a new one. Otherwise, I've heard it's the same shape as the vintage FG pickguard.
I'm probably going to make a plastic fake tortoise pickguard, like I had done for the 1958-61 Harmony H1260. It's thin, and I like the way it looks. As suggested by someone, I roughed it up slightly with very fine grit sandpaper so it looks old. I probably won't do that for this guitar.
