Hey guys new here, wondering if you could help me..I'm looking for a Seagull that sounds like the original S6 cedar, for some reason that is the best sounding guitar I have played!
But I would like a cutaway and electronics ideally..there doesn't seem to be such a guitar in their lineup?
I tried the entourage series and tbh they sounded awful, very thin and empty sounding without much mid/low weight/resonance - can anyone explain why? I thought they were the same as the S6 except with stained tops and the smaller nut width (which does seem to change the sound, even on the S6 slim models).
I've even tried the solid wood series and they don't seem to sound as good as the S6, the harmonics seem muted and dull and the guitars don't seem to breathe or be as loud or resonant as the S6. I've even tried the Artist series and found them to be the same, a muted dull/inhibited sound by comparison, I guess I just like the more chaotic vibrant harmonics/tones of the S6.
A part of me wants to give up and forget about the cutaway, but I love playing up high. Also, I wonder if the S6 only sounds good new whereas these other models will start to sound better once played for several months, as I've only tried the new models in showrooms.
I am coming from a Norman B20 spruce which I had for over 10 years and sounded better over time, loved it but the headstock broke and kept breaking. Maybe a Seagull spruce would be more up my alley if it opens up more over time, just hard to buy a guitar that doesn't sound great to my ears out of the box.
Also, anyone have a Seagull Koa? It sounded quite nice at the store (almost as nice as the S6 though) and looked beautiful, but not sure how it will sound with time as well.
