Bought a beautiful 3 year old S6. Hardly played and it was perfect! Not a mark on it.
In the first week I had it, somehow it slipped off my lap. I use a thumb pick and in attempting to catch the guitar, the pick dug into the cedar top. I made a few attempts to repair and cover up the blemish, but I probably made it worse. I love the guitar but I still look at that smudge every day and utter a curse.

Welcome to the cabin.
I think most of us at some time or other have had that feeling, when you mark your pride and joy.
And it's not a nice feeling.
But as time passed you will not notice it as much, you may even start to like it, it's your mark , you made it.
Could it be covered by a pickguard, or other small sticker. 😀

Hmmm. Mark it up some more and you could probably sell it for a profit to a millennial. They love to buy stuff that looks old, used and abused right out of the box. LOL!

But seriously, if you really love the guitar, I think you will grow to love the mark and/or future marks you put in it. They are not signs of neglect, but signs of love. They show that you have spent a lot of quality time with the lady.

My main stage guitar is starting to get really marked up, but so far, all the marks are in the "pick guard area" so that will disappear once I put a pick guard on it some day soon. However, since she's a keeper and I spend a lot of time with her, and even though I do my best to take absolutely great care of her, I know more marks are going to arrive sooner or later. But that does not bother me at all.

I'm another person who feels that little marks and nicks and scratches are "love marks" as long as they don't affect the playability of the instruments. Anything you use regularly is going to acquire such from constant handling—that's just the way it is. And cedar's a soft wood; it picks up marks easier than most. Don't curse your pick mark; as you said, the guitar had been hardly played and that's why it was perfect. Now it's undeniably your guitar.
