There were (at least a few years back) three or four Seagull groups on FB. One of them Judson had started, but I don't remember which it was. I never found the same easy camaraderie there that I see here—but I think that's FB's fault more than anything. Too much noise, not enough signal.
I use FB mostly for promotion of my books and music gigs. I rarely do anything actually 'social' there.
Yes ... I started a FaceBook site as a companion to the old "Seagull Spoken Here" forum that was sponsored by Acoustic Guitar Magazine Online. I too found the FB format to be clumsy and not particularly engaging. Last year, I just scuttled it completely. And as many, if not most know, AGM online quit helping with the forum several years ago.
Facebook sucks for organization but it'll host your pictures and videos for free. The forum is organized but you have to find a place to host your pictures and videos. Most people will not deal with that. So they put up with Facebook and can't find anything created yesterday. But, I found if you post to Facebook you can copy the link to share in the forum. But that's too many steps for most people.
