Yes a photo of the little beauty would be very nice.
Dont be to put off with the new guitar, just give it a little time, until you get to know one another better, plus the new strings will get the little beauty singing. Before long you will not want to be parted.
I put new Earl Ball extra light strings on it yesterday It's sound is growing on me. In fact, I'm starting to rather like it. It's a bit different than a dreadnaught or a parlor body. It's not as melodious? I'm not sure that's the right word. It might want better pins. The ones that are in it are the worst looking ones I've come across for imperfections, like the QC dept was asleep. I'll probably get a tusq saddle too. It has what they call "plastic"- LOL, well duh. And, it is cool looking!
It was just an old secondhand cheap thing, Ibenez GAX30, looks a bit like a Gibson GS. Spent all afternoon cleaning, polishing the frets, conditioning the fretboard, tightening a loose tone pot, and fitting new strings. I must admit it's not a bad little guitar, it has two humbuckers, with a three position switch. It's good enough for me, it's mostly to use when the wife is in the same room, just plug the old headphones in and everybody's happy.
Thank you. The only problem is the guy in the video knows how to make the thing sing, I don't quite sound the same, I find it fun just finding all the different sounds/tones, you can play for hours without getting bored.
I've been trying to find some Black Tuner buttons for the Ibanez. IMPOSSIBLE!
I decided to replace the entire mechanism with Black- HOLY COW! 204 bucks (with Uncle Sham getting his cut)- I only paid 300 for the whole guitar (plus Uncle Sham's cut)- and, according to dimensions I came up with, and dimensions provided at Stew-Mac I may have to improvise a tad to get different ones to work.
