Coming home from work tonight was a special pleasure (it's ALWAYS a normal pleasure.) For my drive home tonight, WKSU radio had an hour of classical guitar. Of course, they had Sharon Isbin (classical guitarist extraordinaire,) but I heard for the first time a new (to me) classical guitar group called Guitar Trek. They are an Australian group I read about some years ago in Classical Guitar magazine, but never heard their music. May I say, I have been missing out - they are exceptional! Four guitarists, they play as an ensemble. Even if you are not into classical guitar, just from a skill perspective, you need to give them a listen - they are extremely good! I really enjoyed my drive home!
The piece that was played on WKSU last night was a more "typical" classical piece, this is pretty much what I would term "modern" classical. I prefer more "typical," but even though this piece is not what I would usually listen to, I find it interesting to see a group of guitars playing different parts of one piece. Usually the guitar is more solo, or one part of a group of different (non-guitar) instruments.
