My first couple of dealings with them have been less than satisfactory for me. The first encounter goes back years and years ago- the sales people were arrogant jerks that put a bad taste in my mouth. (story about that in a minute)
The second was when, back in April, I got my Fender CD60S from them. Being "new" (as it were) to the world of guitars I felt like they took advantage of me.
Later when I called (after all this flu crap started they told me I had to wear a mask in the parking lot - I told them, I don't think so Tim-
Anyway, yesterday, on my way home from the Luthier that worked on my Ibanez I decided to stop at a different (and closer to home) Guitar Center since their web site said they had an Epiphone Hummingbird Pro, so I could hold it and play it- they didn't have the white Dove pro, but, according to the sales guy they have 56 of them in the warehouse. So, I asked would they be willing to take my Malibu Player in trade for the Epiphone plus a mic and cable and the impedance thingy and a desk stop stand/mic holder. The sales guy was great. He couldn't make the deal because it is a mangers decision and she wasn't there on Saturday- but, when I told him what I wanted to do he said he was sure (but couldn't guarantee) his manager would go for the deal I wanted- will it actually happen? Right now I don't know- but, having actually played the guitar I can always get it on line- and worry about the Malibu Player when I get around to it. But, for now I have my fingers crossed. I'm taking it in Thursday because I'll have the funds then-
Now, about the first Guitar Center visit years and years ago- I relayed that to the sales person and he smiled and said, they still are. Apparently one of the sales girls at his store *visited* that store recently and they were arrogant jerks to her- until she told them she was one of them
But, so far, so good at this one- oh, they also had a sheet music song book I wanted, so I bought it just to show my appreciation to the sale guy.
So, Guitar Center, Willowbrook store- Thumbs up- for now.
