So. A fellow guitar player who also plays on stage from a different church saw me play at church and was so blown away by my Alvarez Masterworks Hog dread's sound that he asked me what it was, where I got it, and how much they cost. So I told him. I also admitted that the price is now 3 years old and may be out of date.
So. Stupid me, I call my guitar store guy to get an update on if he carries that model still and what the price is. While talking, we got on to other stuff, including the Godin A6 Ultra.
He tells me it's been rough during the pandemic. He also tells me he's got these beautiful Godin A6 Ultras on hand.....6 of them....all the Koa edition. I'm like, "Cool, bin thinking of grabbing that thing again" as I've been musing about, even here, for a couple of years.
I find out this special Koa edition goes for $1,900.00 bucks! Ack. But, Godin has them marked down right now to $1,550.00 bucks. Still "Ack!"
So. THEN he tells me that right now, he needs cash flow more than he needs actual profits because of the previously mentioned covid hit. He tells me firstly, don't tell too many people; there's only a few customers he'd do this for, but he'll give it to me $950.00 bucks! Double ACK! (in a good way this time). That's only 50 bucks over the price for the "regular" A6 at the old price of years ago.
So. THEN. I mention this to my wife thinking surely she's going to go "No Way! That's the last thing we need, especially right now." But what does she say instead? After the last 5 months of what we've gone through with taking care of her parents and etc, she says "You deserve a new guitar after....." etc etc.
So. There you have it. The flood gates are open. There's nothing stopping me from resisting the temptation of this amazing deal. I might be going to look at the guitar tomorrow. May the guitar gods have mercy on my soul.
