I enjoy most aspects of my of my Seagulls that it took me a while to notice one quirk- or is it a feature? On both my Seagull Maritime CW and my S&P Pro Folk, the strings aren't quite centered on the fingerboard. They start out even at the nut, but by the end of the fingerboard, the low E is almost twice as far from the fingerboard's edge than the High E is.
Is this my OCD at work? Is there some reason not to center the strings this way? It might give a little more room for bending the strings upwards.
Those Seagull products are 2001 and 2007 models. My newer seagull, the SWS Maritime MJ, shows almost perfect symmetry along the length of the fingerboard. My limited edition Tacoma's strings have a small bias toward the treble side, but nothing like those older 'gulls.
So please check your own guitars and get back to me. This is a small issue that's only slightly irritating to me. I'd like to understand it better.
