I had a 1967 Chet Atkins Country Gentleman like Harrison used . I liked it yet it was heavy, got a lot of different sounds out of it. Had it until 1972. I got a 1966 Epiphone Casino slightly used and liked it much better. I think I traded the Gretch for a Hofner Club bass.
I have only owned one Gretsch. This is my late brother and me. Dave is playing an Epiphone Emperor that was once mine. I am playing my Gretsch New Yorker which I no longer have. Dave lost his battle with cancer nearly 10 years ago.
My son Clay has played a number of Gretsches, but this is the one he owns now. He was playing in a rockabilly band at a custom car show and one of the pinstripers offered to do his guitar, so he took him upon it. They are now great friends.
