FloridaGull, yes; needs are air, water, food, clothing and shelter in that order(the last two being optional depending on on environment), everything else is a want or desire. I desire more guitars, a good microphone, a good acoustic amplifier, some good finger picking books, a good book for my 7 year old grand daughter to learn from and chamber of commerce weather.

RobertW, I'd like to mention a couple of things for you to consider.
#1. No one made any religious, sexual, or political statements. I was pondering the future and stating provable facts about the results of how this thing was handled because we were sharing experiences during this thing that we're all experiencing. Ya, I bought up economics, but that's got nothing to do with sex, religion, or politics.
#2. Before you label something as propaganda and come down hard on people, you need to either evidentially disprove their claim, or back up yours. Otherwise, we're just sharing experiences and opinions. If you label something as propaganda just because you don't agree, believe, or accept it, then you're doing the very thing that your accusing others of by telling them to stop and saying the opposite it true.
Yes, we were talking about the Covid situation....because it's what everybody is talking about these days. It's the subject of "the day." There's nothing political or religious about it. It affects just about everything and it can be talked about, in a civil manner of course.
#3 phjim, was the first to bring politics into it by literally bringing up politicians and Dr. Fauci and Tam. Then ended his post with, "This thread is drifting pretty close to political territory." The irony here is painfully obvious.
No one else brought sex, religion, or politics into it before that. I'm not blaming phjim here. I'm just saying, please, for the sake of continued civil discourse, refrain from pointing fingers and labeling people just because you have a different opinion. And yes, it's all opinions because no one is linking to any scientific facts to prove or disprove anything here.
And, even if they were, at that point I'd agree that this is not the place for that. But, we can have a civil convo about what's going on because it is relevant. Anyone who's gone into (or tried to go into) a music store in the past 5 months knows that and maybe wants to share their thoughts or experiences on it.
All I'm saying is, let's maintain the respect, even if we disagree. Cuz it's ok to disagree, it's ok to have different experiences, it's ok to have different opinions. Adults can do this in a civil manner, children start pointing fingers and name calling. Let's choose to be well-mannered adults about it.
My point here is that I don't think the Covid situation should be taboo. It's something that we're all swimming in and we should be able to talk about it, but let's talk about like the Cabin comrades we are.
===================================== One Alvarez in the hand is worth two Taylors and a Martin in the guitar store!
This kind of problem is playing out in forum after forum. I have left other forums I have been involved with for years and am watching what happens here. (Our collective reaction to) COVID-19 extracts a very high price and I think those of us who are awake/aware and watching are beginning to realize just how much is being lost in every facet of our lives. I think the looming question is whether we can ever get back to some sense of humanity and community when all this is over.
By the way, the VA called me today and informed me that the COVID-19 test I had done earlier this week is negative.
