Technically I didn't buy this one. It was in trade for part of the payment for a neck reset on a customer's H1203. It sounds different than his, a bit less boomy and woody.
No markings on the headstock, possibly removed & painted over. Marked 6526H1203 & F-67 on the inside, confirming it's a Harmony. Lots of finish cracking on the top, like the H1203 I just finished. A crack in the top near the upper waist. A big but not really obvious ding near the bridge. A couple of small dings in the top of the lower bout. The pickguard is cupped, like it is loose. Lots of odd, possibly added, parallel scratches on the top of the bridge. The truss rod cover is missing all 3 corners. A few dings & scratched all over the body, but not too bad. An odd grain defect on the rear upper part of the neck, the finish is cracked and a small piece missing in that area. The tuners are in nice shape. The nut has been shimmed with a 1/16" thick piece of wood, but the E, A & D slots are low, the A is nearly sitting on the 1st fret, with the open note buzzing heavily. The saddle is 2 strips of something!! The back looks to be one large piece of mahogany. The neck projects 7/64" below the bridge. The neck relief is good. The bridge is .37/.34 high. The saddle sticks out .06". About 1/8" belly behind the bridge. The action is a little under 11/64" low E & a little over 9/64" high E. The frets are minty except for a very slight divot at the B string 1st fret. The neck is off center a little more than 1/32", narrow on the treble side. Preliminary internal exam shows a slightly broken brace under the crack in the top.
While I have many projects guitars I've been wanting to get to, this might move to the top of the list.
Commence way too many pictures!!
The crack.
The ding. It isn't noticeable unless the light hits it just right.
I can't decide of that's the natural grain or someone scratched those lines in the bridge. There's definitely something going on with the saddle slot.
No sign of any markings on the headstock.
The nut mess.
The uglier side of the nut mess.
Minty frets, except for a slight divot at the 1st fret on the B string.
Unmolested heel.
1 piece back??
The tuners are in good shape.
Odd defect.
Low slots.
