Just did a complete string change in under 15 minutes!

I can't say I've ever timed my string changes, but I also doubt that I've ever done one in under 15 minutes. Heck, on a gig it seems like it take ten minutes just to change a single broken string!

My nemesis is the B string. It is much stiffer than the E string, doesn't want to stay would around the tuning post, and tends to stick you in the finger when you're not looking.

One time while I was tensioning new strings the high E string broke, swung around and stuck in the back of my right hand. That's a once in a lifetime thing.

There was less ouch and more, WHAT THE....!!!

If I was guessing, it takes me about 1 1/2 hours, there is no need to rush, as stated by others there is the formalities of cleaning and Lem oiling the fret board, polishing the frets, cleaning the whole of the guitar, at least two cups of tea and a piece of toast, then fitting the new strings and finally tuning up. Then the reward of listings to the fresh sound of them nice new strings.

True story...

Long ago, when I was 12 or 13, and playing the viola exclusively, a guy who played the violin wanted to see how high he could tune the high "E" string of the violin. So, he kept cranking the tuning peg up, until the predictable happened (string snapped) - and the unpredictable also happened - the end of the E string pierced his eye!

Like others have said, I cannot do a string change fast.  I'm absolutely OCD about cleaning the guitar once the strings are off.  Mainly because I use Elixers.  If I don't clean the guitar at string change time, then that guitar is gonna go two years without gettin' cleaned. 

Also had a string pop on me, but just once.  Was the G string.  Wasn't paying attention.  When it snapped, it swung back and smacked me in the face.  All I could think in that second was how thankful I was it didn't get me in the eye.  I wear glasses, but not safety glasses.  So some protection, but still, I pay more attention now.
