I own a 12-fret OO Alvarez Blues51 and a 12-fret Cort OM, although the 12-fret dread is interesting. The 8-string is very intriguing - I'd love to play one... 🙄😳😁😮

Spider John Koerner used to use a 7-string with the G string replaced with an octave G course.

Big Joe Williams had a 9 string.

Both Spider John and Big Joe cobbled theirs together from six strings.

I guess the one that FloridaGull posted is in between.

whether he got the idea from Spider John is hard to say, but McGuinn was a folkie back in the day, so it seems impossible he would not have known of Koerner, Ray & Glover. McGuinn was also precocious, playing out though underaged... but would’ve been in his early 20s when Koerner, Ray & Glover were playing...seems more than likely he would’ve seen them.

LOL. The guy filming that video seemed to have fallen asleep! The camera drifts way to the left until the guy is almost out of view and the camera is slowly bobbing up and down. Then, when the guy on stage is finished and people start clapping, the camera guy wakes up and quickly moves back to centering the guy on stage.

Just thought that was hilarious.
