I already have had a Seagull S6 Cedar for several years now. Love the sound. I say it can’t be beat for the money. But I’m looking to upgrade to the Artist Mosaic CW HG EQ SF which is how it reads on the label. It has a small ding and faint scratches which allows for a good discount. I’m not sure what the HG and SF stand for.
I see the HG on other labels but not the SF. I would think factory second would be FS. I’ve researched without any luck. Anyone see this before?

Yes most will agree with you that Seagull are excellent guitars and excellent value for money.

I'm not an expert on Seagull guitars but the HG, stands for high gloss, not to sure about the SF.

jeff, I'll second that HG stands for High Gloss. This could mean that just the top wood is HG though, it doesn't necessarily mean the whole guitar is HG.

I "think" SF stands for Factory Second as well. They just love to switch things around so it's not as obvious what they mean. LOL.

But, be encouraged, back when they made that guitar in a Cedar top, a factory second meant that there was some sort of very small imperfection that got spotted by their QC people, but that neither you, nor anyone else for that matter would probably ever notice or even be able to find.

If there's some sort of "obvious" defect with the guitar, Godin won't let it leave the factory.

BTW, How old is the guitar? And is it the Cedar top model?

jeff, I once owned an Artist Mosaic SF model. (I actually didn't know I was buying a factory second from the dealer, but thats another story for another day).

When I got it the guitar was pretty much flawless. Despite the miscommunication, it was at a great price and I was half way across the world so I kept it. The only thing that I noticed was that the abalone gull inlay was quite dark on one wing. Because they have such high standards for Artist range guitars, they may have rejected it on that basis. But it affectionately became known to me as "Black wing", and it was a wonderful guitar.

So at a good price, you cant go horribly wrong with a Godin SF model - you may not even notice the blemish.
