When some of you fellers say football and I say football, we are not talking about the same thing. But when you say "football match", it helps remind me. Besides that we are still several weeks from any football in these parts.

I did watch an inning of a collage baseball game Monday while eating lunch at a Chinese joint.
I think it was the 7th, three runs where scored before the first out. The pitcher finally shut it down, but not until bases where loaded.

Like for instance, I didn't know you could load those bases. I thought firearms were prohibited in baseball.

I have not watched a full football game in several years and I have never watched a full soccer match.

Garland,My oldest is a NASCAR nut. He does some announcing at a local track, not in the big circuit.

Last race I watched Richard Petty and AJ Foyt when in it.

I do sometimes watch baseball. I ended up watching the full inning Monday. The one I mentioned was the top of the inning. We got up to leave and my wife needed to visit the powder room before we left. By the time she got back the bottom of the inning was over, three up-three down...

My advise, if you're not a very good hitter, never wait on the first strike. Take every chance you get.

seagullplayer, That was my introduction to Loudon Wainwright III. He's made some great records, but there are often a few numbers that I can't take.
I really liked the High, Wide & Handsome album that got him the 2010 Grammy Award for Best Traditional Folk Album. He was classy enough to thanks his ex-wife, the late Kate McGarrigle, in his acceptence speech, for teaching him to play clawhammer banjo.
I love the music that his ex-wives and kids have made too. He's managed to marry into two extremely musical families.

I've often wondered why Canadians and Americans call their sport "football" since the only time you use your feet are punts, field goals and kick-offs. The majority of the time is spent carrying, throwing and catching the ball.

I think the Europians deserve to claim the word "football". I propose we North Americans change it to "throwball" or maybe "carryball".
