I like Elixer strings but stopped using them due to the price and how long they didn't last.
I was lucky to get four weeks out of them before they looked all shredded and discoloured the "G " string was always the first to start shredding.....

Wow! That's fast, even for non-coated strings, never mind coated. I couldn't even begin to imagine what's causing that. Again, wow, that's a bummer.

I don't think it would be the acid on your fingers because the coating Elixer uses in particular (different than all other coatings and is patent protected) is resistant, possibly even immune to the PH of our fingers.

I have very rough fingers, rougher than most due to my dry skin, and I'm an aggressive strummer with a fairly thick pick and even I get at least a year out of my Elixers.

to the OT- the strings I used are the GHS Boomers. I'm not liking them. I did the initial tune, 2 or 3 times in a row, then let it set for and hour or so. Had to tune it again. Let it set for a few hours and had to tune it again. blues90 said he didn't like them when he tried them. I had already ordered them. I'm going to order some www.stringsbymail.com/rotosound-r12-roto-purple-medium-heavy-electric-guitar-strings-12-52-12020.html

and another set of Martin Monel since electric strings don't offer 11-52's

An electric guitar is the ONE PLACE I MIGHT like coated strings. They do seem to last forever and on an electric "knobs set the tone" more or less.

I know some folks love them, to each his own. Some folks like Tofu, and I personally know a guy that claims to not like coffee! The world we live in.
