Tell Us About Your Tonewood Combinations, Owned & Desired

TonyKgull , I just had a look at the 320 on Taylor's website. They only list the CE model, and call it a 2015 model. Mahogany over Sapele. 1.75" nut, medium strings.
I don't recall seeing one of these in the shop in town - but if I do over the next few months I'll have to give it a try. That buttery description can be applied to a lot of Taylors in my opinion, and seems to come from the sound combined with the playability. Might be why the sound is described as though it is partly "felt" as well as heard.
The sound of the Ovangkol has matured some - I think it has become a little richer than the sound that first got my attention in the shop. Maybe I'm hearing it begin to "open up".

Don't think I'm answering this question right, but I still think solid Rosewood back and sides, with solid spruce top is up there with the best.

Bit of a spoiler alert regarding this article but I fully agree with it's concluding statement:

After broadening my horizons from Yamaha and Takamine ( no offense to those 2 guitar co.'s ) and trying Cole Clarks, Martins, Taylors and few other higher end brands, I've seen, felt, and heard that yes, the woods are all nice and dandy blah blah blah, but some guitars are just made better than others and would sound good, probably, no matter what wood they used.

Also, I kind of hate to say this because of what it implies, but there's actually only 2 companies that make guitars that I have yet to play one that did not impress me.  That's Cole Clark and Taylor.  Every other guitar company I've tried I've been able to find a few of their models that were like, "Meh, I'd never buy that, sounds kind of.....I'll pass." 

I'm sure there's others like that, that make only excellent guitars to my ears and hands, but I just haven't had the pleasure of trying yet; like probably Maton, Collings and others I may not even have heard of.

This sort of thing just doesn't come into play with electric guitars, to my knowledge.... could be one of the reasons I've never owned one.
