TonyKgull, Guess what Tony, I have just entered the same competition for the same Taylor Guitar, there will be one winner in Canada and one winner in the UK. That would be great if we both won one each, would make a brill story and advertisement for Taylor Guitars. Can't wait to pick mine up.
Derick, ya, wouldn't that be a grand old kick in the pants if "we" both won! I can't even imagine the odds. LOL. The story would end with me falling down laughing so hard I'd not be able to get back up!
===================================== One Alvarez in the hand is worth two Taylors and a Martin in the guitar store!
TonyKgull , That's a really, really great sounding, and beautiful looking guitar, and that slotted headstock. Hope your luck is in with the competition.
Thanks Derick. Chances are slim to none, but you never know. Can't win unless ya buy a ticket right? And the tickets are free for this one. Problem is, I'd wanna sell it, but just from this review alone I think I'd also want to keep it. I mean, man, that things looks and sounds so gorgeous and with a short scale neck, wow, she'd play as easy as butter!
How will your wife feel about the matching tatoos?

TonyKgull ,Derick ,Greg Ballantyne ,El Gull , I spent this afternoon in two shops playing guitars. In the first shop, I played more than 10 Taylors, including the afore mentioned 710e, a 510e, a 414ce-R, an all Koa guitar, (forget the model), an all Mahogany Taylor dread, the same 814e and 816e I played several months ago, new Tobacco 700's, a Lutz spruce & Mahogany slot headstock GA, a 12 fret was in there somewhere..... several babies & other ukellele type Taylors....a good selection of some of the newer offerings, a variety of tonewood combinations. Then I went to another shop- only about 7 miles from my house, been there 40 years but my first visit today..... played a Martin HD28, and an HDV28......when it comes to dreads, I'll take the HD28 every time...the Martins were discounted really well - both less than $2500 USD. No electronics installed....but it reinforced my notion, that if my next guitar turns out to be a dread, it will be a D28. If I had been buying today, I don't know how it would have turned out....but if a dread was the choice, D28....
