New Tric Delux case (2013)

Well it arrived this morning, amusingly packed in a Gibson AC j-35 Shipping box...
My earlier assumption that there was removable padding was wrong.. there is no removable padding.
1st Impressions:
The canvas strap to hold lid from swinging open too far is either too short or too tight, it is very difficult to keep the lid open at all. It falls back on guitar as you are taking it out or putting it in.
The strap allows the lid to open 14" as measured at top edge of strap. The should be at least an inch and a half more to allow proper balancing of open case. Just touching the case causes lid to close.
Hopefully stretching the canvas strap will alleviate that problem a bit.
Unlike many padded Gig Bags there is no strap to hold the neck in place!
The depression to cradle the neck is shallow and NOT symmetrical. There is poor fitting of the velvet-like lining around that neck support.
Both the Natural Elements Mini-Jumbo and S-6 Dreadnaught fit snugly... any guitar with lower bout smaller that 14.5 inches will have a bit too much play for MY comfort.
I put in the Mini-Jumbo and zipped it up.. the foam shell halves seemed to fit snugly, but of course cannot be sure they stay that way after zippering. When I stood the case upright and leaned it back and forth I could hear the head stock knocking about in the case, as I suspected it would.
I do not know if the canvas covering is pre-shrunk, if it is not, exposure to dampness may make zippering difficult in the future.
On a whim i tried my Epiphone Special II (12" lower bout).. that was scary.
From what I've read of the earlier models, I'm not all that sure this ""universal"" case is a step up.
Like others I would have preferred clasps over zippers, and a hard airline baggage handling resistant covering, over canvas..

Addendum: I failed to note that like many gig bags, it has padded back-straps, however it lacks the ubiquitous metal ring at top of case to wall hang it when not in use.
