This is a one of a kind 2009 Maritime SWS Folk HG, ironically one of the models obsoleted in 2017. A friend bought it on eBay and it ended up needing a neck reset and had finish damage on the upper bout. He slightly cracked the top in the same area while doing the neck reset. Then he tried to repair the finish and only made it worse, so he sanded the finish off the top and sprayed a nice tobacco sunburst. Unfortunately he doesn't like the wider 1.80" Seagulls necks and he sanded it down to 1.72", keeping the wide string spacing (I prefer the wider neck). He added a pickguard and changed the tuners. He also added an ivory saddle and UNSLOTTED bridge pins.
With the thinner top and the ivory parts it sounds pretty amazing. And I think it looks pretty cool too. It's great for fingerstyle (which I like), not so much for hard strumming. He sent it to me because he had so many problems and put so much work into, he didn't want to see it anymore. I didn't mind. He had said it was a Seagull Folk, but he never mentioned in was a Maritime, which I knew immediately when I opened the case when I got it, it has the distinctive bridge. The only disadvantages are you can't strum it hard, and I have to be sure to keep it humidified with the thin top. I wish he hadn't sanded the neck thinner. Other than that, it's a great guitar. My 2004 Coastline Folk is pretty amazing, I need to do a direct comparison to see which one is better.
Sadly I never got it out last year. I had rediscovered my Maritime dread that I had bought with many cracks and fixed.
