No worries mate! At the end of the day, never succumb to peer pressure. Always go with what you like and what inspires you to play, and play well, and play often, ....no matter what I or anyone else says. Experiment, discover and enjoy!
TonyKgull . That was exactly what I was looking for. I think that I'm Nano guy, I like that crisp sound, although I guess I should try the Polys. Who knows, maybe I'll discover after all this time that I was born to be mellow. Up until recently I would have said, in fact I did say, that I wasn't a fan of Elixirs, but I think I might be coming around to them. (could this be yet another example of succumbing to peer pressure)
I became an overnight fan of Elixers quite by accident actually. I had never heard of them before. They came stock on my first all solid wood guitar years ago (an Artist Mosaic Folk QII). I kept all the tags and after quite some time, I was astounded that the strings weren't going dead yet and kept sounding amazing and so alive (I had previously never experienced "coated" strings).
Dug out the tags and discovered the strings were Elixer Nanowebs. Since then, I've tried everything from Cleartone to DR Dragonskins etc. Always keep coming back to Elixers cuz they just have that special "something" that "I" like. The fact that they last so long is just very nice icing on the cake.
But, to be fair, there are people out there that hate them and prefer something else. Nothing wrong with that either. Again, you have to find what you like.
Disclaimer: The Center For The Prevention Of Cruelty & Abuse To Guitar Strings reports that many sets of many brands of strings were viciously injured, maimed and out right destroyed during all the research and experimentation to arrive at this poster's love for Elixers. So sorry 'bout that.
