Honestly, I much prefer the nylon-over-EPS-foam cases like the TRIC. They're far lighter, have more room, and honestly, in my limited experience the foam seems more protective (and more resistant to humidity changes) than any hard case. My first experience with one was with my high-end bass guitar, which came with one. Some idiot stepped on the case at a gig, which I know would cracked the top of a wooden hard case as I've had one stepped on in the past and that's exactly what happened. With the foam, nothing happened at all other than a shallow footprint depression on top. The guitar was fine and undamaged. When (several years later) that case was beginning to show its age, I bought the Gator Hybrid version of that case as a replacement.
I was very pleased that my Artist Studio came with a TRIC case, other than the fact that the ribbon at the bottom allows it to open too far. If that case fell apart, I'd replace it with either another TRIC or perhaps the Gator Hybrid case for acoustic guitar (which runs about the same cost as a TRIC from Sweetwater. I'm tempted to replace the hard case of my 12-string with a Gator 12-string hybrid case.
