The two week old Elixir strings that I have just taken off, show real fuzzing wear on the G string, at the second fret, this happens with all Elixir strings that I use, last time I mentioned it, you thought it may be due to long finger nails, so I have paid special attention to nail length, all that I can think of is acid in the sweat of the fingers, but strange it only happens to the G string. 😀
That is interesting. Probably because of your style of play and "what" you actually play. I notice on my guitars, I tend to wear out both the G and D strings, on average, first. Again, probably a simple reflection of what strings I happen to be fingering the most.
I've noticed in the past couple of years this has been happening a bit less though because I've been playing with capos, barre chords, chord inversions up the neck and Cut Capo stuff more. So it seems I'm wearing everything out a bit more evenly now. Good for my playing and my strings.
