Last year at this time I was really happy with this guitar. Now after another year with it, I am really really happy with it. I used my older masterbilt in the worst of the weather. But I am back into the AJ.
This thing sure does grow on you. The tone continues to get better. The small sound hole tuner is "ok". My only complaint is with the lower E string. It won't pick it up very well, most of the time I can hit the upper E, then once it picks up get it to see the lower E.
It's again camping time for me, but this guitar is staying home, I got other options for that...
I've noticed that seems to be common with many built in tuners. For some reason, they have a bit of trouble picking up the bass E string. Weird.
===================================== One Alvarez in the hand is worth two Taylors and a Martin in the guitar store!
I'm really pleased for you that all is well with your not so new guitar, and yes I agree that you have to play the guitar to get the best out of it, and the more you play it the more familiar you become with the guitar to get the best out of it. It's pure coincidental that to day I bought myself a new Snark clip on tuner, and am very impressed with it, very accurate and nice colourful scale, my other clip on tuner was a Crafter make had it for over fifteen years, it still works but the on/off switch has nearly worn away.
