Well. It finally happened. Yup. I was actually wondering if this day would ever come, but it finally did.
My old and main workhorse computer, my 15-year-old Windows XP machine finally died last night. I have to admit, I'm a bit misty here. It's like an old friend just died or something.
I just did some quick math. I've had that thing for pretty much half my adult life. (I don't think I was quite an adult yet by my late teens and early 20s. Not the way I was living and acting. lol.)
Gonna be hard to replace it and get all my stuff off of it, but I'll figure something out. I'm pretty sure it's the power supply or the motherboard that finally gave up the ghost, the drives should be ok.
Now I not only have to get a new comp, but programs as well. Yeesh. What a way to start the year. lol.
Well. I guess this is God's way of telling me to gut my also over 15-year-old computer room and get into the 21st century. LOL. Probably gonna take me a few weeks to get everything done and be fully back up and running again.
For now, I just thank God I bought this used Toshiba laptop a couple of years ago......cuz I had a feeling "just such an emergency" would be somewhere on the horizon one day.
Sure gonna miss ol' Bessy. She was so good to me for so long.
Maybe there's a song in all of this soon to come, who knows.
"She may not have been purdy,
she may not have been clean,
but I'm sure gonna miss my old XP machine!
La la laaaaa, la da da.....ooooh woowez me.
I hope my hard drives will be givin'
All my files from me livin'
but I'm sure gonna miss
my...old ... XP ... machiiiiiine."
