Repetition and personal irony

Repetition is required to learn anything. Depending on what one wants to learn and some people just have a natural talent to pick certain things up fast.

I hated jobs that required me to be in the same desk day after day on repairing cars doing the same thing over and over. Certainly repairing cars knowing the task through repetition made you more money since you were paid by the job.

When I built houses it was a process with an end result from the ground up to the finished result, that didn't feel like repetition.

Learning guitar is repetition and learning never ends, it's also a process. I started young and was eager to learn everything I could. I started with a clarinet so sheet music was involved , knowing the notes and timing I was 9. When I got my first guitar I tried to apply the sheet music then tossed that and went by ear. You do need to know the notes for each key so you know what key the song is in and the chord pattern and what notes work in that key after a while that becomes second nature.

I've changed over the decades don't play other peoples tunes much any more I just find a spot and build from there to get the basic then add more and more to make it as complicated as I can to challenge my self.

When I was in bands ,well garage bands we had our own tunes and played many popular songs we learned. It was the actual learning getting the songs down as a group effort then playing in small clubs that was the reward.

A few weeks ago, I started playin it in A... so, the repetition requirements changed.
The opening first line I do entirely different now than I did then. Both work.. but, the repetition is different , and if my mind wanders I find myself doin it in G instead of A ... in public that's a big ruh-roh
