Explanation to the confusion on title: I've always been a fan of the under dog... always. It's carried over into my guitar madness as well... including brands and strings for instance, I won't use D'Addario strings because every off brand (not Martin or Gibson) uses them. And I won't use Elixirs because everybody suggests them. I pride myself on not followin a crowd.
I'm still on the fence about pick ups but I'm gettin there... anyway, I started to use the thread title; The Under Dog... but opted for what you see.
The reason is cost, as much as anything, but early in this video, my fandom was cemented in place.
Now, Gibson vs Epiphone. Listen carefully to the back story.
Gibsons are expensive. I do know, that with my current financial constraints, I wouldn't pay multiple 1000's for anything, never mind a guitar. Therefore, the Epiphone r lookin good 
and definitely on a future horizon....
