Went to open mic and as usual I got there earlier than everyone, except John, who had the system already set up. He asked which guitar I brought and I told him, my signed Guild... he asked if I wanted him to finger pick it so I could hear what it sounds like on the PA... wow! It sounded good, a treat!... then I played his Guild D55, circa late 90's, (I think he said), model, which he says is a mahogany top and body, but is painted a maroon color, so I don't know, and I didn't look inside. It sounded okay, but has no natural volume with just a thumb playing it. My D240E is much louder, and with just my thumb I think it sounded better.
We had only 8 artist show up, but had mostly a full house of customers most of the evening, up until about 830... Dan Kocher was there, using his Seagull and put on a really good show, which he always does. Randy and Gene were there and did really great, as usual... we celebrated Mike McNamara's 65th birthday... it's on the 21st, but he will be recovering from a surgical procedure, so we did it last night. John gave him a strap, from the same place he got mine, with, Tone Deaf, stamped on it ... Mike calls himself, Tone Deaf Mike... so it is now "official"...
A young woman, Emily Jacobs, came. She had a Guild Jumbo ... nice guitar! She sings really good, with a very pleasant and I thought pretty voice too. She said she will be back. She and her husband live relatively close, so hopefully she will.
Dan Kocher told me to listen to the song in this video
He said I remind him of Bob Wier... with my style of singing, writing and voice... wow!
So, now I have, at Dan's suggestion, another song to learn.... man the list just keeps growing... I have to accept his suggestion because he is such a great guy and really likes me and what I do... just blows me away...
