I removed all the strings then checked the new pins. Then I reamed all the holes till the pins just fit.
once I tried to install the strings the Low E and A and D needed a bit of a slot because the string wrap filled the pin grooves and I need a bit more space. Mostly the low E and A. It was a bit more on the low E less on the A even less on the D. Did each one ,one at a time. I read you should ream the holes more if the string wraps don't fit but I wanted to do it right and fit each string then slightly slot.
It's better now. Also the bone saddle was rough cut on the bottom so it didn't hit on the low E and in the middle , I just sanded it on plate glass just so it was flat. Checked it with pencil lead till it was dead flat didn't take enough off to change the action at all.
Then for the topper made a hair line scratch on the top and dropped the small flashlight so it chipped the finish on the binding on the top of the lower bout. Not a big deal , maybe I can buff it out with some rubbing compound I have some where around here. There were already a few dull spots on the top near the neck on the treble side. And I already made my own treble side of the sound hole from resting my pinkie on it while I finger pick , rather I use the pinkie as an anchor.
What ever , I don't want to do that again any time soon. It took a lot of reaming to get the pins to fit and fully seat let alone the added slotting which I hoped I didn't need to do. I guess the scratches are just a bonus.
I checked the relief and it is maybe .005" , not screwing with that. As long as I don't dig in on the low E it does not buzz. I also polished the frets and see that RK leveled them but didn't fully round all of them so quite a few have a flat spot, not real wide but not a pro job. But it plays fine . Something for another life to deal with.
I was sort of surprised that the Ibanez AC340 and the real cheap Luna all the frets are rounded real nice even the Seagull is rounded nice. Just both Recording Kings. I saw a video on the series 11 000 and the place that had the video on the series 11 dread and he said some you need to and others don't require this. Mine just needs to be rounded then polished. He didn't bring up the cheap bridge pins but I know they are crap.
