Good evening all! I'm happy to have found this forum. Thanks for all the Seagull info and the spreadsheet archive.
Up until a few days ago, I was a happy owner of a Seagull Maritime SWS HG. I am now also a happier owner of a 2002 Seagull Artist Mahogany Spruce CW!
I bought it from a recent retiree who had switched to piano after he acquired it. He was moving overseas and getting rid of possessions. I offered $360 for it and he asked for $380. I felt $20 is too little to quibble about.
The guitar was in spectacular condition and passed all of my examinations (I'm an amateur guitar technician). Perfect neck angle. No fret wear. Excellent action. No warps, dings, or blemishes. After I played it, I thought "Do NOT pass this opportunity up or you will regret it!"
I gave the body a good cleaning and polish, re-satinized the neck, oiled the fretboard, polished the frets, and tightened the tuner buttons. The only indicator of its age is the darker patina of its bear-clawed spruce top and bindings.
The guitar sounds equally spectacular with magnificent resonance, deep basses, and shimmering trebles. I could hear all of those qualities even with the old strings it had. It's even better with the fresh Elixir Phosphor Bronze strings that I installed.
