Fighting the "Good deal" urge

I do the same . I don't need another guitar, but I can't resist keeping an eye out for "a deal". Last year I wasn't looking for a grand auditorium, I was more in the market for a 000 or OM. But when a deal appeared for an Alvarez Artist GA right here in town I had to take a look. It looked and sounded great, and the price was too low to ignore. Anyway, I need to be more disciplined and practical (yeah, right!).

Thankfully, the Eastman sold, I was still pretty disappointed.

Having bought the 2022 Yamaha FS5 (folk size), I'm hoping my search is over!!!

I think I am FINALLY done with the vintage Yamaha's, the string spacing at the saddle is way too narrow. I need to fix and sell most of them. I will probably make a couple more wide neck/string spacing versions, from a folk (FG-110) & classical (FG-75-1) body, with converted 12 string FG-230 necks.

I do like the Harmony Sovereign H1260, it has a very nice 2.25" saddle string spacing, but it isn't as warm as the Yamaha's.

The Yamaha FS5 has the best of both worlds. The only (and probable) problem is, I may have to get the dread size FG5!! I'll know more this weekend!!

The big question is WHAT do I do with all the beat up guitars I bought as projects?? It will take a good amount of work to make them playable. In the end, I may have to nearly give them away.

In the end, I want the 82 cut in half by the end of the year!! The hard part will be setting up my Reverb store to sell the vintage Yamaha's.

I've been thinking about selling the 2016 OM21 and (2) older Seagull Artist models to Sam Ash, just to get the money to pay for the Yamaha FS5. I really should put them on CraigsList and see if I get any bites. I'd certainly get more than selling to Sam Ash, but I'd price them less than market value, just to get rid of them. Once I get started, I might start enjoying it, and they will go faster. We shall see!!

I screwed up when typing the year!  It's NEW NEWish, at made in August 2022.  I'd guess it was bought last Fall.  WHY would someone donate a $1500 guitar??!!

I've had TWO SJ-180's.  I love the shape.  BOTH were dead in comparison to a FG-180.  I still have one, I had attempted to shave the braces, but never finished it.  One of these days Alice!!  The neck reset was a pain in the ass, even for a vintage Yamaha!  yamahavintagefg.boards.net/thread/379/repair-1981-yamaha-sj-180

An Alvarez 5024 hummingbird copy popped on a local auction site. Another guitar I don't need, but will covet for the right price.

Yea, I should probably avoid another 50 year old Alvarez. My 1973 5038 is still looking great other than a little bit of bridge belly.

After work, I'm meeting someone to sell the 2016 Martin OM-21. I priced it ($1300) well below market value to get it over with and not have to answer stupid questions for days. Of course, a couple of people who were interested are obviously flippers, since they have 20 guitars for sale!! NOPE!! I'd like this to go to someone who will actually play it.
