This is one of two series that Planet Waves has that utilizes the long spring and micrometer design, The other, called TriAction, has the lever down.
This particular model has an integrated pickholder (picks!,,pfftt!) and a bracket for attaching an NS Micro Tuner. You can also purchase it with a NS Micro Tuner.
While the idea of a tuner on a capo seems to make sense, the designers over-looked the dampening effect on the string vibrations by the aluminum frame and the rubber pads. The tuner is much more responsive on the headstock.
I am finding I have developed a preference to the lever up/coil spring design of the NS Artist..better than that of Kyser! Although the capo is visually busy, it is easier to put on and does a better job avoiding buzz than the Kyser.
The radius of the NS Artist is very curved and buzzes of flat fretboards such as on Martin Stratabond necks. I also noted that tightening the knurled nut too much to try to get rid of the buzz, locks the lever. It will not open, you have to loosen knurled nut to be able to open capo. Not pleased with that discovery. In that situation, this makes the D'Addario NOT exactly a quick Change capo.
Still, it is on my rotation list of capos I regularly use.
