They call this the 'Satin' finish. It is also available in Silver and 18KT Gold-Plate.
It is one of the very few Lever Up Design capos available.
G7th claims:
The G7th Nashville Capo is a simple spring capo design. Spring capos are popular with players who value their speed and simplicity. Other spring capos have 2 major problems.
Strong springs over tension the strings, which can result in serious tuning problems.
The thickness of the rubbers can cause your guitar to lose tone.
Many spring capos allow metal parts to contact your guitar neck.
The strength of the spring can make them heavy to operate.
i believe G7th is comparing the high tension of the axial spring design as used in Kyser and the lower tension coil spring design used by Meideal and it is clones. I have made my preference for the coil spring well known by now.
Besides weaker spring, G7th claims:
... the inert silicone wrap around rubber and internal G7th design features eliminate deadening of tone and avoid metal to wood contact on your guitar neck.
The silicone wrap around rubber also provides better finger grip on the upper lever.
and..
The G7th Nashville moves the spring pivot point closer to your guitar neck. This means that you can exert the same force with less effort. You can use it one handed with ease.
What they have actually done is moved the pivot point under the neck. While the capo IS closer to neck, this change has seemed to result in a weaker joint. It appears the two levers on not on same axis and also the whole capo leans slightly back on fingerboard.
I have no idea if this is as designed or it is a defective unit. My feeling is this unit has been damaged. G7th produces well designed and finished products. I have a hard time accepting that the wobble in the video below was a design decision.
Update 13/10/2016: Kyser agrees capo is defective and is sending another.
