Taylor GS Mini-e Koa

I've heard the fret spacing can be a little tough for some.

There's one listed at the local guitar store, closer than the nearest Guitar Center. I could tried theirs, even though I don't like the look of the pictures of the top. Then I have to be sure I have 2 or 3 guitars ready for trade.

After listening to some reviews of the various GS Mini models, I'm not impressed. The clincher is the reviews done by Jarvis at Guitar Spa. He did the review on my Martin OM-21 and there is a HUGE difference in sound quality of the GS Mini models vs. the OM-21, as there should be. I just don't like the boom of the OM-21.

I'll check out the GS Mini someday. My Mother-in-law goes in for cancer surgery in a couple of hours. That's more important right now.

I'll get out to try some guitars one of these days. I have to be sure the ones I want to trade are ready to go. Learning something new to play would be good too. TIME!!! I need more time!!!!

CTGull, If the "look" of a guitar makes you want one, stay away from almost any Angel model from Cole Clark.  LOL! (probably the most beautiful guitars on the planet!)

As far as the GS minis go, people need to understand the guitar for what it is, it's a "mini" guitar.  Once that truth is understood, it will blow you away.   There simply is no other mini guitar I've ever seen or heard that compares to it.  So beware of that cuz it could make you want it really bad after trying one.  LOL.

The GS mini, unless you're a very small person, is not really a gigging guitar or anything else.  Sure, you can use it for that, but meh.  It's the same as parlors.  Yes, they're technically not "mini" guitars because they have one of the 2 most common "official" scale lengths, but still, they are pretty darn small and usually sound like a cardboard box, I don't care how expensive they were or what they're made of.  They are almost one step above a ukulele in my opinion.  You don't see many, if any at all, gigging with a parlor guitar.  I've actually never seen anyone use a parlor on stage, but I'm sure there's exceptions here and there.

The GS mini is a different animal though.  It's so versatile due to it's size, and it's so amazing sounding even despite it's size that one can get very enamored with it very quickly.

So, again, just beware of all that when going to try one because they can seduce you pretty quick!  I've almost bought one a few times and had to really give my head a shake to avoid it.  LOL.  Before I bought my Cort OM Martin clone, I almost bought a GS mini .....again.  Glad I didn't though cuz I know for me, that really, really short scale length and thin nut width would drive me batcrap crazy after the novelty wore off.  lol.

It's kind of ironic that Eastman is the brand I'd like to look at next. All I need is time. And there's too much going on at home for guitars to be a priority.
