Oops, I did it again!! All in the name of SCIENCE! I bought another FG-110, this one a 1974 made in Taiwan. Drove almost 2 hours each way. She bought it new in 1975, but didn't play it much. But her husband has, it's definitely used!
My notes:
Truss rod cover missing. Three tuning forks & small YAMAHA on headstock. Various wear and dings all over. Some fret wear, C on the second string being the worst. Original bridge pins. Big dust bunny inside. 40131535 on brace, 0470496 on neck block. Nut action low. Neck relief high. Neck projects .21 below bridge with .03 gap in the middle. Action is 5/32" low & high E. Bridge .31" high with .04" (ends) & .02" (middle) saddle (flat top) sticking out. Strings are old & tarnished but not rusty. The sound isn't as good as other FG-110's, but there is almost no saddle sticking out and as close to zero break angle as you can get. 62 12 27 ink stamped on the inside, ROC era 62 = 12/27/1973.
Oh yea, back to the SCIENCE part. I've bought all these FG-110's (3 regular, 2 acoustic/electric) to gather data. Various dimensions, weight, interior markings, sound, etc. This one has the first I've seen of ROC date markings on the inside.
I still want to find 1 or 2 FG-150's. They're a higher model, you'd think they'd sound better than the lowly FG-110. I'm not sure a plywood guitar can sound any better than my favorite FG-110. It took a nearly $5000 guitar to finally beat it.
