Surprising how time flies when you're enjoying your self. Five or six weeks have passed since I bought the Fender Telecaster, in Candy Apple Red. Have played the Telecaster every day since I bought it, and I must sing it's praises, set up was perfect straight out of the box, still using the strings that came on the guitar. The Telecaster is my favourite electric guitar, it took me three guitars to find the one I like. The first electric guitar was the Epiphone Les Paul Pro Top, it was a beautiful looking guitar, more that a little on the heavy side, and as standard had two humbucker pick-ups, great guitar and great sound, but not the sound I was looking for, a bit on the Rock/Heavy Metal sound. Next was the Squire Stratocaster, Vintage Modified model, great guitar very comfortable shape to play, and like the position of the jack socket, on the front of the guitar, really like this guitar, and still own it. But there is something about the Telecaster, that has a massive fan base, it's a very simple Guitar, a slab of wood for the body, with a stick for the neck, with two single pick-ups, but the sound and playability are out of this world. The only way I can explain the sound is, twangy/Country/Rockabilly, it's the sound I was after, and great fun to play. Anyone else got a Telecaster. 😀
This is the sound of the Telecaster that I like. A YouTube video.
I think this might be one of those 'dog people and cat people' things. I've always preferred the Gibson sound over the Fender sound, and for the very reasons you mentioned. I don't think there's anything bad about the Fender sound this is solely personal preference. However,it's great that you've found 'the one', with the look and sound you want. Does this mean that you might keep this one for a little longer than you normally do?
Don't think I'll ever sell my Tele. I am a big fan of Gibsons, and I really like the PRS, Duesenberg and Gretsch sound too. But of all those, I find the Tele to be my kind of guitar. It just feels right and sounds right for the kind of music I play and enjoy. And that's not country music by the way!
Just remembered, it was your good self, that recommend the Fender Telecaster to me, just think, if it hadn't been for you, I may not have ever found this marvelous piece of Electric Guitar. That's what is so good about the Cabin, all the good advice from so many knowledge guitar people. 😀
Awesome Derick - I dont consider myself to be that great a player or guitar guru. But I just love guitar music, and I enjoy finding out why I like the music I do. Like you, I just wish I had more time to play and upskill!!!
