I mentioned this in another thread. I won another Yamaha FG-160 on Shopgoodwill for $26. It's for research and parts. It has a rare label they used for only 2 months. BUT, the lower bout is smashed on the end and the top is all scratched up. When it comes in I will remove the neck and cut the body into pieces. I'm also going to rout thru pieces of the sides and back to verify how the plywood was made. And save the braces and the part with the rare label.
It came in yesterday. It is in the worst condition I've ever seen! And the label says "Packed with Care by Sandy". I meant to send them a message and congratulate Sandy on doing a great job packing this POS!!
Last night I took the bridge off. I hope to take the neck off tonight. Then the plan is to remove the back and lay the 2 halves in the sun to soften the glue and take the rest apart. That's the plan anyway.
And I'll mention here I won ANOTHER auction!! A rare Made In Japan for Japan only (not for export) Yamaha FG-251. I hasn't shipped yet. The price hung at $22 for a few days and only went up to $28 with 2 minutes to go. I threw a $200 bid at it with 20 seconds to go, expecting to get it for well under $100. Well, someone threw $127 at it, so I got it for $129. A bit more than I expected or hoped to pay.
