The Rosewood Trade: An Illicit Trail from Forest to Furnitur

I see this problem on the roads all the time.  Huh?  What I mean is, this article shows what I've always said........which is there's no point in having laws if said laws are not enforced.

An unenforced law leaves it up to people to obey it voluntarily and we all know how most people are at THAT.

I know Seagull cares and Bob Taylor cares and now uses ebony that is not the nice black. Seems the new Fender acoustic /electric does the same.

I have no idea where Fender and Epiphone guitars source their rosewood that are made in Indonesia or the spruce. There are quite a few brands made in China that used to be made in the US.

Some are using man made wood substitutes. The only down side I can imagine is what sort of chemicals are used to manufacture these and how is it disposed of.

I recall in the mid 50's when we moved out in the farmland in IL which was owned by twin brothers and sold to make way for housing, They became the landscapers. There were still farm ponds and small streams, I used to walk to these because of my interest in water life , turtles and frogs , salamanders ext. One day I walked to one small stream and all the water was green and all the water life dead. Turns out some new homes were draining their washing machines into the stream as we had ditches and anything drained into them ended up in the streams . Sort of a horrific sight and experience.
