There's a high-end S&P guitar locally that piques my curiosity. Does anybody know anything about the Folk Pro? This one's from 2001, by the serial number. The top is cedar, but I'm not sure about the back and sides. Looks like cherry to me, and I don't know and any solid cherry builds. The neck has the upscale fret markers, tiny dots offset towards the upper edge.
On another day, I would have bought this guitar. It was in great condition, with a low, easy-action setup. The sound was rich, but not that loud (my limited-edition Tacoma, with ancient cedar top, has spoiled my in that regard). The price was nice, just $400.
I own one, I bought it used, I have no idea what year it is, it sounds great, easy to play, I bought mine off ebay sight unseen from Canada, about $250 US. Mine is Woodland Folk Pro, I use it for playing in church.

godinfan, ladyssolo, I had one from new for about 1.5 years. Lpved it and regret selling it. Great tone and playability. Thought I was upgrading when I advanced to Seagull Performer, but that wasn't the case. It's a great guitar for the price.
godinfan, I had the ASW S&P woodland Pro Folk all mahogany model. Gave it to my nephew about 5 years ago now. He still has it and uses it. Still sounds great but it's not holding up that well over the years, mainly the neck actually, the rest still seems fine.
I don't know if it's the guitar or how he keeps it, or a combo of both, but ya, it will need a major set up soon or possibly a neck reset, which will most likely be impossible cuz of the epoxy. But, the playability aside, it still sounds pretty darn good.
===================================== One Alvarez in the hand is worth two Taylors and a Martin in the guitar store!
Michael at Seagull informed me that this is a 2001 Folk Pro, with laminated rosewood sides and solid rosewood back. I have a chance to buy this at an appealing price, and it's a lovely little guitar, and seems to be in perfect condition, but it probably wouldn't replace my other two acoustics. Can anybody speculate what this guitar would be worth to the congocenti?
