This one's for FloridaGull (and possibly RobertW ): Here's the promised 12-string tune. Since I did "A Parting Glass" entirely a cappella, it seemed appropriate to balance things out by doing something entirely instrumental, in this case the Beatles tune "If I Needed Someone." The guitar recorded somewhat boomy in the bass, but hey, these are all 'first take and no fixing things' recordings, so I left it as is.

You once commented on the video CTGull posted for me, saying I was a better guitarist than you due to playing fingerstyle. Very kind words, but I feel that people who can strum and flatpick so nicely are the "better" guitarists... 🤔😁
It's all different styles, equally beautiful, but I guess we always have respect for skills we do not possess... 🤔🖖

I wish now I'd put a K&K in the Guild, but at the time I opted for a Fishman undersaddle pickup... It works well enough, but having K&Ks in both my Eastmans, I'm sold on them for sound.

But... while I did have the Guild plugged in and running through my Bose for a little additional support, the mic was situated right in front of the soundhole and was the only input for the recording, so this sounds mostly as the guitar sounds acoustically (minus the boom). I still love this guitar, and I've had lots of compliments from other guitarists on how it sounds and how well it plays.

And yeah, while I fingerpick a (very) few songs, I'm mostly a flatpicker/strummer. Different strokes, that's all -- but I admire fingerstyle players and sometimes wish I could do what they do.

It is indeed, but the intro/end lick has morphed over the years that I've been doing the song, and I'm not sure that's for the better... But it's not like I'm going to re-record the tune; only that I might change it for the next time I get to play live, if that ever comes.

I liked that Sleigh. Flat picking a guitar with a dozen strings or more takes precise skill. When I played my 12 string finger picking style it always sounded muddled and when using a pick it seemed to get caught between the strings..like getting apple peelings caught in my teeth
