I bought this on CraigsList yesterday. Yea, I said no guitars this year. But I've been itching to build a smaller body version of the wide neck YamaXL, which would be called the YamaXLjr. I need another vintage 12 string FG for the neck. I saw this and I thought it would work. It has some nasty looking drop damage to the lower bout. Then a day later I had second thoughts. The slotted headstock needs to be shortened, but it's tapered. That would require sanding the outside of the headstock and the slots. This guitar has a bound neck & headstock! I'd have to remove the binding, modify the headstock, recut the binding channel, and install the binding. Way more than I want to do for this project. I had offered less than he was asking. I sent him a link to the YamahXL and said I wanted to use the neck to build the smaller version. He like the idea and agreed. A day later I told him I couldn't use it for the YamaXLjr and asked if he would still sell it to me for the same price. He agreed. We met yesterday (after a nearly 2 hour ride) and we talked for an hour.
