I think I could have done better if i had a faster but lighter driver to wind with. My Dewalt 18v NiCad is too heavy and both my B&D battery and my Ryobi 4.5vLithium are too damn slow.
the problem was the Ibanez slot head with machine facing down when on the bench setup.
For the first two string changes on the Ibanez I had either pass the string through the tuner hole twice or time string in a knot. The same with the nylons strings. But that was back when i could; see 10s and 12s.
this time i intended to follow a modified Taylor method. Change string on Slotted Head
6,1,5,2,4,3
The wrapping trick requires the ability to tension string while power winding from below. One wrap on one side of hole, locks the string in place on the tuning peg. All the rest on the other side.
Everything went wrong for me.
I could not see 1st to 3rd strings well enough to get them in the damn hole. took me way too long. Stabbed myself a few times.
i just could not get the wind to start properly, too often. The String kept slipping from my grip.
i got very frustrated. I think only 1 string wound properly.
The 3rd string is proper but winding could be pushed together. All the rest are screwed up. Yet the guitar tunes fine. lol But now I'm on the hunt for a better power driver.
I don't know if I'm going to try to rewind the screwed up strings or sell it as is
.
