The Martin 00017 came with Monel strings- I changed them to PB's- it also has plastic pins 
not that they make much of a difference, I realize that- however, I got a set of persimmon pins for the 00015M, purely for cosmetic reasons. I put the ebony pins, from the 00015M in the 00017- they don't fit the same way they did on the 00015M - they don't go as deep into the hole -

I put the ebony pins, from the 00015M in the 00017- they don't fit the same way they did on the 00015M - they don't go as deep into the hole - I was going to communicate with Martin, just for FYI purposes on my opinion about the string choice and the plastic pins in a more expensive guitar- however, the comment box would only let you type a few words, not nearly enough to 'splain anything- so, I just sent a comment, "the comment box won't let me type enough words to explain!"-
