aristophon,  Ok, this has nothing to do with getting into playing one or anything, and I didn't watch the whole video, just a few parts, but I had to mention this.

Whenever she stopped playing a note and didn't deaden the string right away, I noticed the sustain on that thing was kind of amazing.  Especially for such a small instrument.  Really beautiful.  And the volume and projection was incredible too.  (can tell in comparison to her voice).

I don't know what brand or make that viola is or anything, but it seems like a stellar instrument.

In another thread I mentioned how the ukulele sounds like a toy to me (not dissing it, just saying what it sounds like to me) and someone compared a violin or viola to the uke as similar.

I have to admit, I haven't listened to a violin or viola in quite a while but this vid just reminded me of just what amazing instruments these things are.  They definitely do not sound like toys to my ears.

So many instruments, so little time.   *sigh*

Here's Saskia playing her viola a couple of years ago. She also plays jug band music on both the fiddle and viola in the Maple Leaf Champions Jug Band.

Garland,  You posted that vid before, but I only really noticed this time how much musical "energy" the fiddle and electric guitar provide together.   Quite amazing actually.  It might also be the song.  The scale notes she's playing/staying in on the fiddle provide a kind of pad energy in this song.

Aaaaaah, to be young enough again to bounce around like a Mexican jumping bean and play and sing at the same time.   LOL.

They may have that fancy river dance'in over yonder, buy them girls know how to creek hop!
